Dr. Mark Johnson Quarterman earned his AS degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and his BS in Biology from Armstrong State College. He attended The Medical College of Georgia where he earned his M.D. degree. After earning his degree, he completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Quarterman's desire to pursue a career in dermatology led him to a dermatology residency at The Medical College of Georgia. It was there, he was named the Chief Resident. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. After finishing his Dermatology training, he completed a Dermatopathology fellowship at The Ohio State University. He is also board certified in dermatopathology by the American Board of Pathology. These two certifications allow Dr. Quarterman to review the clinical and pathological aspects of dermatology for his patients. He can interpret the pathology, firsthand, in order to give his patients, the highest quality of care. In addition, he is also board certified in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery by the American Board of Dermatology. He was presented with the Annual Trainee Award for 1997 by the Archives of Dermatology (Arch Dermatol/Vol 134, Mar 1998, pg.343). This award is bestowed to the dermatology resident or fellow who was the first author for the most meritorious original research article published in the Archives of Dermatology of a given year. This is an international award. Dr. Quarterman has presented many cases at professional meetings and conferences, participated in numerous research projects, and has written multiple journal and abstract articles. He has been in private practice in Anderson, South Carolina since 1996. He and his wife, Tricia have three children and two grandchildren.
